In Melbourne Australia, CC Labs are building AI computers from living 🧬 nerve cells…
.
Why…? Well AI running on normal computers is getting pretty good at learning how to do simple tasks, given a lot of information to learn from…
.
But AI is still really struggling to do more complicated things, like driving scooters 🛵 and cars, or understanding empathy.
.
And another thing AI is really bad at is “one shot learning” – learning how to do something after having been taught to do it only once 🗿.
.
This is where CC Labs comes in – nerve cells in the brain are able to self-organise, and perform enormously complicated tasks with ⚡️ tiny amounts of energy.
.
If these “living computers” start to work well, they could be incredibly intelligent… and might lead to a bridge between computers and 🧠 brains…
